District of Mission: "Mission on the Fraser."  

Much of the rural part of the community is in the hills north of the Downtown. The local areas of Ferndale, Hatzic, Silverdale, Silver Hill, Steelhead and Stave Falls are great places to explore.

Follow either Highway 11 north or Scenic 7 to arrive in Mission. Many popular annual events continue to be community favourites, among them: the Children's Festival, the Soap Box Derby, the Folk Music Festival, Fraser River Heritage Park Twilight Concerts and the Christmas Candlelight Parade.

Parks abound, among them: Centennial Park at 11th and Taulbot, Fraser River Heritage Park east of Stave Lake Street on 5th Avenue and Jack Poole Harbourside Park on the waterfront. A wonderful area for a short stroll, the historic Downtown along Scenic 7, features Murdoh's Books, several restaurants, the Mission Museum and Sadie Ann McMurray Antiques.

The Mission City Farmers Market operates every Saturday from May through September. For major chain store shopping check out the Junction on London Avenue, Mission Hills Plaza on Scenic 7 and Heritage Park Place at Stave Lake and 11th Avenue.

Annual Events: 

Bald Eagle Festival, Fraser Valley Bald Eagle Festival and Season of the Eagles, Celebrating the beauty and biodiversity of the Fraser River Valley by honouring the majestic Bald Eagle and the Cycle of the Salmon. Mid November.
Candlelight Parade, It is the largest nighttime Christmas parade in all of BC and draws a crowd of over 13 000 people every year. The Fraser Valley will come together to celebrate the joyous holiday season. Early December. Mission

Mission Folk Music Festival, Zhambai
Zhambai Trio features Zimbabwe music at the Mission Folk Music Festival.

Twilight Concerts, The Envision Twilight Concert Series has been presenting summer evening entertainment, twice weekly on Wednesdays and Fridays, at the Fraser River Heritage Park since 1990. Fraser River Heritage Park.

Blackberry Kitchen, Experience The Blackberry Kitchen. Start with a fresh scone with homemade blackberry jam and Devonshire cream, or try a rustic sandwich and bowl of chef's wonderful soup. Fraser Valley Regional District, Cascade Falls
This 22 hectare park features Cascade Falls, dropping some 30 metres into a large pool.  
Cascade Falls Regional Park, A regional park managed by the Fraser Valley Regional District, located northeast of Mission in Electoral Area F. This 22 hectare park features Cascade Falls, dropping some 30 metres into a large pool. Cascade Creek runs through a series of smaller falls to drain into Stave lake. An excellent area for dog walking and hiking, the trail has stairs on a path which leads to a viewing platform overlooking Falls. One can also take a more gradual walk to the platform on the gravel road at the north end of the parking lot. Many photo opportunities along with swimming and picnicking are possible here. Toilets.

Chances Gaming Centre, Chances Gaming Centre Mission, Chances is all about fun and friends. It's a place you can spend a few hours talking, eating and playing together.

Harbour Park, Over looking the Fraser River and accessed from Harbour Avenue, Harbour Park has picnic tables, a washroom and parking. This park has river views, some delightful sculptures and is adjacent to the marina.
Hylee Training, Hylee Training is a lesson and training facility with a focus to enable riders to have an all round horse experience.

Historical Society, Mission District Historical Society operates the Mission Museum, Mission Community Archives and Heritage Places.
Inch Creek Hatchery, Uses modern fish culture techniques to produce coho salmon, Chinook salmon, chum salmon, and steelhead trout for a number of local tributaries to the Fraser River. Mission Raceway Park, a complex consisting of a 1/4 mile dragstrip, a road course, and a motocross course.

Rolley Lake Provincial Park, This park features picnic areas, toilets, playground, drinking water and is popular for camping canoeing, cycling, fishing and hiking. On Mission's western boundary, Rolley Lake is reached from Highway 7, turn north at 287th to Dewdney Trunk Road and head east to Bell Street, then head north on Bell.
